stated below is a response from a professor after turning in a reading response to a text that I had to read for her class. This is a woman’s literature class as well might I add.
Abby: First, what a dedicated reader you have become. Many students found this text to be too erratic, too unfocused, too non-linear (read that: male). You are becoming an effective, insightful reader of feminist texts! My hope for you is that you continue in your education, go to a 4 year school that has a strong feminist focus, and continue on to advanced degrees perhaps in political science, or social activism? And along the way, before Adrienne Rich leaves this world, I hope you get the chance to meet her. She’d love your spirit and newly found empowerment.
Isn’t that awesome! She nailed what I wanted to get my degree in when/if I go to a 4 year school!
